All about the Brains: Zombie Movies must have !

This is the 3rd Episode of All about the Brains. Here, as the title says, I will talk about Zombie Movies that you must have to get the whole Zombie feeling and an understanding of this genre.

So this will be a list of 10 must have Zombie movies and at the same time my 10 favorits.

10. The Return of the Living Dead (1984)

This Movie was made in 1984 directed and written by Dan O'Bannon. It is a perfect example what big influence Night of the Living Dead had on Horror Movies. The story is nearly the same. So now to the Story: When a bumbling pair of employees at a medical supply warehouse accidentally release a deadly gas into the air, the vapors cause the dead to re-animate as they go on a rampage through Louisville, Kentucky seeking their favorite food, brains. Sounds like fun ? IT IS ! The stereotypical Zombie that says BRAAIIINNNSSS comes from this movie in no movie before his one Zombies say a word. It is not the best Movie but its my No.10.

9. Fido (2006)

This movie was made in 2006 directed by Andrew Currie. This is one of the funny Zombie Movies. It is really well written and played. It takes place in a surreal world in the 60s where Zombies are integrated into society as pets and handymen. The Story: Timmy Robinson's best friend in the whole wide world is a six-foot tall rotting zombie named Fido. But when FIDO eats the next-door neighbor, Mom and Dad hit the roof, and Timmy has to go to the ends of the earth to keep Fido a part of the family. A boy-and-his-dog movie for grown ups, "FIDO" will rip your heart out. Defenatly worth watching.

8. Shaun of the Dead (2004)

It is directed as an normal Zombie movie but with funny characters. Its a really intelligently made movie and I totally recommend it. The story: Shaun is a 29-year-old with no real ambition in life, much to the consternation of his friends, family, and fed-up girlfriend. With only a loyalty to his lazy best friend Edgar, a dead-end job where his employees step on him, and the good-ol' days, Shaun isn't exactly putting his best foot forward. But when the flesh-hungry undead start to rise in numbers around modern-day London, Shaun must come to the rescue of his girlfriend and mother before all hell breaks loose. With loyal Edgar at his side to fight the good fight, the two will have to pave their way through zombie-ridden London as Shaun must take on the first real challenge in his life--with comical results. WATCH IT !

7. 28 Days Later (2002)

Made in 2002, directed by Danny Boyle. Another UK movie about London comes around. Very good movie, well made and really good characters and RAGING FAST ZOMBIES. Awesome !! The Story: Animal activists invade a laboratory with the intention of releasing chimpanzees that are undergoing experimentation, infected by a virus -a virus that causes rage. The naive activists ignore the pleas of a scientist to keep the cages locked, with disastrous results. Twenty-eight days later, our protagonist, Jim, wakes up from a coma, alone, in an abandoned hospital. He begins to seek out anyone else to find London is deserted, apparently without a living soul. After finding a church, which had become inhabited by zombie like humans intent on his demise, he runs for his life. Selena and Mark rescue him from the horde and bring him up to date on the mass carnage and horror as all of London tore itself apart. This is a tale of survival and ultimately, heroics, with nice subtext about mankind's savage nature.

6. 28 Weeks Later (2007)

Directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, this is the sequel to 28 Days Later. It has the same quality; more characters, more Zombies and more action. Just good. One of the few good sequels. The story: 28 Weeks Later picks up six months after the Rage Virus has decimated the city of London. The US Army has resorted order and is repopulating the quarantined city, when a carrier of the Rage Virus enters London and unknowingly re-ignites the spread of the deadly infection and the nightmare begins... again.

5. Day of the Dead (1985)

Directed and written by the famous George A. Romero comes a very special Zombie movie. Its special because it shows a Zombie getting intelligent. You need to watch it. it is a well made movie despite being so old, one of the few very good ones. It takes place after Night and Dawn of the Living Dead. The story: Zombies rule the USA, except for a small group of scientists and military personnel who reside in an underground bunker in Florida. The scientists are using the undead in gruesome experiments; much to the chagrin of the military. Finally the military finds that their men have been used in the scientists' experiments, and banish the scientists to the caves that house the Living Dead. Unfortunately, the zombies from above ground have made their way into the bunker....

4. The Zombie Diaries (2006)

Written and directed by Michael Bartlett and Kevin Gates. Mix The Blair Witch Project and a Zombie flick and you get this. Good movie that makes you feel claustrophobic. It tells you the story out of 3 viewpoints from different groups of survivors. The story: In the early part of the 21st Century, an unknown virus began spreading among the populace. Within weeks it had engulfed the entire planet, from the smallest rural communities to the greatest cities. Upon the death of its host, the virus would reanimate the corpse until it was no longer able to support itself. Soon, the planet was infested with a new threat - the undead. So begins our journey into the dystopian world of The Zombie Diaries. Three compelling video diaries chart the early days of the plague, right through to the last days of the apocalypse: A documentary film crew travel to the countryside to make a movie about the virus. Unaware of what is happening around the country, the team is accidentally caught up in the outbreak. They later take shelter in a nearby wood, where a much more sinister fate awaits them. A husband and wife escape London and pick up a mysterious hitchhiker as they scavenge the remnants of dead towns, unaware of the dangers that wait for them in the shadows. A group of survivors flee to an old farm to seek refuge, only to find themselves under siege from creatures that attack in the dead of night. Watch the devastation unfold through the eyes of those who were there...

3. Dawn of The Dead (1978)

Directed and written by George A. Romero this is one of the best Zombie movies ever made. It is the sequel to Night of the Living Dead. I don't think I need to say much about it, just watch it. The Story: Tensions are running high in the United States. The recently deceased are returning to life as shambling, flesh-eating ghouls, and political dissidents are threatening social stability. In the city of Philadelphia, Fran (Gaylen Ross) an employee of WGON-TV and Radio learns that her program director Givens is broadcasting out-of-date information on the air of rescue stations that have been overun by the living dead. Fran's boyfriend Stephen (David Emge) arrives at the station and tells her that they must run for the situation outside is getting more chaotic and wants Fran to meet with him at 9 PM on the roof of the building to leave in the station's traffic helicopter. Later, while in the air again, they see a deserted shopping mall. They land on its roof and break in through a skylight to rest and to collect supplies. Although more than a few zombies are milling about inside, drawn to a place that had meant so much to them when they were alive, the four of them realize that they could successfully live there for a long time.... but the bets are against them.

2. Night of the Living Dead (1968)

Directed and written by George A. Romero. Yea I dont think I have to say much about it here either, its very famous as well. I think everybody should watch it. Watching it is an adventure. The fact that it is made in black and white just makes it creepier. The story: Chaos descends upon the world as the brains of the recently deceased become inexplicably reanimated, causing the dead to rise and feed on human flesh. Speculation rests on a radiation-covered NASA satellite returning from Venus, but it only remains a speculation. Anyone who dies during the crisis of causes unrelated to brain trauma will return as a flesh-eating zombie, including anyone who has been bitten by a zombie. The only way to destroy the zombies is to destroy the brain. As the catastrophe unfolds, a young woman visiting her father's grave takes refuge in a nearby farmhouse, where she is met by a man who protects her and barricades them inside. They both later discover people hiding in the basement, and they each attempt to cope with the situation. Their only hope rests on getting some gasoline from a nearby pump into a truck that is running on empty, but this requires braving the hordes of ravenous walking corpses outside. When they finally put their plans into action, panic and personal tensions only add to the terror as they try to survive.

1. Dawn of The Dead (2004)

Directed by Zack Snyder written by George A. Romero. This movie is so good. It is in my opinion the best "new" Zombie movie. It is one of the few movies that got a big buget and well-known actors. I love it, i hope so bad that they will continue making Zombie movies like this; every thing was just right about it. The Story: There is a young nurse named Ana who is returning from a hard day at work. Wanting to go home and cuddle with her husband Louis. But not paying attention to an emergency broadcast telling the public about a deadly plague of flesh eating creatures.Until the next day when the next door neighbor a little girl comes into their house and bites Ana's husband Louis in the neck. But Louis does not remain dead.Seconds later he is up and trying to bite Ana. Luckily Ana escapes in her car and sees the public being eaten by flesh eating zombies. Until she crashes into a tree and is recd by a black police officer called Kenneth. They regroup with 3 more people and find shelter in a closed mall called the Crossroads Mall. While they are searching the mall they find 3 security guards there armed with guns. They all keep on waiting for help to arrive. But they are all running out of ammo, food, and power. And the zombies are approaching the mall in greater number. So they armor 2 normal mall shuttle buses with weapons and a battering ram to go through the crowd of zombies in front of them. They try to make it to the boat docks and take a boat to one of the islands where they find more zombies...

So thats it. If you have any more movies that need to get mentioned, write a comment and explain to us why it needs to get on the list. Stay tuned for the last episode. Zombie Books.
